  • What is guardianship?

Guardianship is a court process in which there are three examining committee members who examine the alleged incapacitated person and help the court make a determination of incapacity. The second prong of guardianship is determining who will help the incapacitated person with their financial and healthcare needs. The court does a yearly review of each guardianship case. Families can choose to have a family member appointed as guardian or they can choose to have a professional guardian act.
