  • Who should have an estate plan?

Everyone should have an estate plan. Estate plans are very important because they allow the maker of the estate plan to specifically lay out where they would like their assets to be distributed upon their passing through a will or a trust. They also allow the maker to execute a power of attorney, which will allow them to name someone to help with their financial obligations if they ever become incapacitated. Estate plans generally also include a healthcare surrogate, which allows the maker to name someone to help with their medical decisions. Everyone should have an estate plan!
